The Caribbean (10 Nov – 14 Dec 2014)
I will let the pictures describe our trip through the Caribbean islands...because all I remember is the rum at 60-65% alcohol and the numerous cruise ships and tourists.
St. Lucia
Landfall at Souffrière where we only stayed for 3 hours on a mooring ball. After 17 days at sea we were exstatic to see our first human. He turned out the be a rastaman on his small motor boat who told us we couldn't drop our anchor in Souffrière and that we had to take a mooring ball. He kindly guided to the mooring ball and wouldn't let us go until we agreed to go on a guided tour with him of les Pitons. He was annoyed when we declined his services but still charged us a fee for guiding us to the mooring ball. Welcome to civilization...
We didn't want to pay for the mooring ball so we motored 3 hours north to Marigot bay. A very pleasant anchorage with expensive resorts and restaurants. We treated ourselves that night to a nice meal.
Martinique
For the French the Le Marin anchorage in Martinique is famous. We had trouble finding a space among the hundreds of other boats.
St. Anne
Anse Arlet
Anse Mitan
Fort de France
St. Pierre
Dominica
Guadaloupe
St. Barthalemey
St. Martin
Paul's brother Mathieu spent some time working and living in the French Caribbean islands and met his girlfriend Mardaline in St. Martin. They now live in France but Mardaline's family still lives in St. Martin, so we family to show us around the island. Mardaline's family was so warm and welcoming to us and made us feel at home. We hope to see them again in the future....maybe in France maybe in St. Martin.

Paul wrote about these same days, in French, from his side of the boat. Read his account →
